Biography

Professor Emerita Andrea Kapell Loewy was Principal Flutist of the Acadiana Symphony for thirty-four years and played numerous concertos with the orchestra. Other orchestral work includes Principal Flute of the Orchestra of the State of Mexico, and Guest Principal Flutist of the Shanghai Symphony. 

She presented four recital/teaching tours in China and gave a solo recital in England. She also performed at several National Flute Conventions including those in New Orleans, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, Dallas, and New York City. Loewy concertized extensively with Yuling Huang-Davie, pianist, at numerous colleges and art centers throughout the United States. She served as Chair of the National Flute Association’s Newly-Published Music Committee.
