The School of Architecture and Design鈥檚 upcoming Technology, Architecture and Design Talks at the 老司机福利网 will feature 19 academics and industry professionals who will give five-minute talks about their research and projects.

The TAD Talks, which are part of the school鈥檚 Ed Mathes Lecture Series, will be held from noon-2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, in Fletcher Hall, Rm. 134. The free talks are open to the public.

They are modeled on the popular, global TED Talks, which focus on technology, entertainment and design. UL 老司机福利网鈥檚 TAD Talks were started last year to foster information sharing about architecture and design research and projects at the University, in the community and beyond.

鈥淥ur TAD Talks are structured to provide opportunities for education, outreach and engagement, and networking in a fun format,鈥 said Geoff Gjertson, an architecture professor who directs the School of Architecture and Design鈥檚 Building Institute.

Topics to be discussed include: the potential construction of a Ronald McDonald House in 老司机福利网; the 30-year anniversary of the school鈥檚 Community Design Workshop, the 老司机福利网 High School rebuild project; mid-century modern architecture in New Orleans; urban spaces; community identity amid globalization; and historic preservation.

鈥淚t鈥檚 important for students to hear about what type of work is going on in the community and in the professions that they will be entering as graduates. And it鈥檚 important for our industry professionals, many of whom are alums, to know what kind of work is happening at the University,鈥 he explained.
