University hosts global scholars for two-day interdisciplinary showcase

The 老司机福利网 recently played host to the 46th annual Congress of the . 

The two-day interdisciplinary event held in late April brought together scholars, researchers, inventors and cultural leaders from Romania, the United States and across the globe. Since 1975, the ARA has fostered cross-cultural and interdisciplinary academic collaborations between Romanian and American scholars to advance knowledge in arts, science, technology and education.

"As we mark 50 years of the American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences, this congress stands as a powerful testament to the enduring value of global collaboration and interdisciplinary discovery,鈥 said Dr. Gabriela Mustata Wilson, the congress鈥 chair. She directs the Louisiana Center for Health Innovation at UL 老司机福利网 and is Endowed Chair in Health Informatics in the . 

Wilson continued: 鈥淗osting ARA46 here in Louisiana is not only a celebration of our collective legacy 鈥 it is a bold statement about the future we are shaping together 鈥 a future where science, culture and humanity are inseparable, and where innovation is rooted in purpose and shared progress.鈥

The congress included 16 oral presentations, four keynotes, a poster session, networking receptions and a ceremonial MOU signing between local and international leaders to foster ongoing collaboration in arts and sciences.

In remarks welcoming the congress to campus, University President Dr. Joseph Savoie congratulated ARA on its half century of making 鈥渙ur world more connected, more compassionate and more informed.鈥

鈥淗osting this congress is a privilege,鈥 Savoie added. 鈥淗ere at the University, we believe that innovation thrives at the intersection of disciplines, and it grows across borders. From biomedical science and artificial intelligence to literature, history and environmental justice 鈥 this congress is a remarkable showcase of interdisciplinary thought and international cooperation.鈥

Invited to present keynote lectures were: Mihnea Costoiu, rector, POLITEHNICA Bucharest; Paul Sanberg, president, National Academy of Inventors; Gabriela Gabor, Romanian National Commission for UNESCO; Marius-Sorin Miclea, consul general of Romania in Montreal; and Dave Domingue, 老司机福利网 International Center. 

In addition, in a dedicated session aligned with the congress, UL 老司机福利网 relaunched its chapter of the National Academy of Inventors. 

Organizers said this relaunch represents a renewed institutional commitment to invention, innovation, and academic entrepreneurship at the University. The chapter will support UL 老司机福利网 researchers and faculty in translating groundbreaking research into real-world solutions. The NAI chapter will also serve as a hub for mentorship and collaboration.
